Moss: The Forgotten Relic launches on PS5 tomorrow

Tomorrow, Moss: The Forgotten Relic arrives on PlayStation 5.

For many players, this will be their very first venture into the world of Moss. For others, it’s a chance to return to a place that has stayed with them long after the credits rolled. Either way, we’re incredibly excited to finally share our handcrafted adventure, Moss: The Forgotten Relic with everyone.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic is a reimagined collection that brings Moss, Moss: Book II, and the Twilight Garden expansion together into one handcrafted fantasy adventure for PlayStation 5, without the requirement of a VR headset. We hope returning players enjoy seeing Quill’s world in a new light, and we can’t wait to welcome all of you who are just now meeting her.

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by sharing our launch trailer, giving you a glimpse of the adventure, danger, and heart that define Quill’s journey.

When we first started working on Moss, we wanted to build a nostalgic fantasy adventure inspired by the classic stories and games we grew up with, all centered around one question we had never seen explored before:

What if the hero of the story could see you? What if they needed you?

That idea shaped every decision we made. Every environmental diorama was handcrafted to feel like a page from a living storybook. Every puzzle, encounter, and personal moment was designed to strengthen the bond between the player and our hero, Quill.

We wanted players to feel protective of Quill, but just as importantly, inspired by her determination.

Courage comes in the smallest forms

At the heart of our story is Quill, a tiny mouse with extraordinary courage who dreams of greatness beyond the safety of her forest settlement. Clever yet untested, she is always eager to prove she’s capable of something greater. It’s hard not to root for her from the moment you meet her.

Her life changes when she discovers a long-lost Green Glass relic, awakening an ancient bond with a mysterious spirit companion: you.

That single discovery sets in motion an adventure far greater than she ever imagined. Together, you embark on an adventure in the world of Moss. And spoilers: it’s not a simple walk in the woods.

Ancient ruins tower overhead. Forgotten kingdoms have fallen into decay. Creatures many times Quill’s size lurk around every corner, and danger is never far away. Every obstacle is a reminder that the hero’s journey is not an easy one, no matter the size.

She may be one of the smallest heroes you’ll ever meet, but she never stops believing there’s a way forward. It’s hard not to root for her, help her, and protect her every step of the way.

A hero that sees you

In our game, you aren’t simply controlling Quill from afar. You become the “Reader”, a mysterious presence within the world itself who acts as Quill’s watchful and most trusted guardian.

She sees you, and she knows you’re there.

Throughout your adventure with Quill, she looks to you for reassurance, celebrates victories with you, asks for help, and trusts you when the path ahead seems uncertain. She acknowledges your presence, making the relationship feel remarkably personal.

That partnership extends beyond the story into the gameplay itself. As the Reader, you help shape the world around her by moving obstacles, clearing paths and confronting looming threats to aid and protect Quill on every step of her journey. In return, Quill looks to you for reassurance, celebrates victories alongside you, and occasionally even reaches out for a high-five!

We’ve always described this relationship as “Twofold”: two heroes sharing one adventure together. It’s a special connection that sits at the emotional core and game design of Moss, and something we are very excited to share with a whole new audience on PlayStation 5.

Reimagining Moss for PlayStation 5

With Moss: The Forgotten Relic we knew we wanted to preserve the intimacy, emotion, and sense of connection that have defined Moss, while delivering what we believe is the most refined and cinematic presentation of Quill’s story to date.

Moss: A Forgotten Relic features enhanced visuals, modernized presentation, and newly crafted cinematic camera systems designed to bring players even closer to the emotion, scale, and atmosphere of this world. Every encounter, puzzle, and environment was carefully revisited so the adventure feels completely at home on PlayStation 5.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic launches July 16 on PlayStation 5, and can be added to your wishlist now.
