Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Various people will also request help from the player. One of these requests is Request 81, titled ‘In Search of a Fiery Pokemon.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘In Search of a Fiery Pokemon’ request.
In Search of a Fiery Pokemon
To unlock this request, the player must first complete the ‘Setting Up the Icepeak Camp’ Request from Brice in the Alabaster Icelands, which is the 78th request in the game where the player must help Brice find Craig so that they can set up the Icepeak Camp in the Alabaster Icelands.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, head to the Icepeak Camp in the Alabaster Icelands, the player will find an older man in Supply Corps clothing (green) named Brice. Talk to Brice, and he will tell the player that it is so cold in the area that he can’t even feel his fingers and that he can not work in this condition which would be bad because he wants to earn his way up through the ranks. He will then say that to do that. He has to warm himself at least enough to feel his fingers. So, he will ask the player to bring him a Pokemon that is good at manipulating flames to help him keep their fire roaring. Then, the ‘In Search of a Fiery Pokemon’ request starts like that!
To complete this request, the player must catch a Fire-type Pokemon, any Fire-type Pokemon, and give it to Brice in the Alabaster Icelands. Now it is time to find a Fire-type Pokemon!
Unfortunately, the player cannot find any Fire-type Pokemon in the Alabaster Icelands except for in Space-Time Distortions, where a Rapidash may spawn, or Mass Outbreaks, where Vulpix, Ninetails, Magmar, or other Fire-type Pokemon may appear and wait for these events to happen is just a waste of time. So, arguably the easiest Fire-type Pokemon to catch in the game is the Ponyta!
Ponyta can only be found in the Horseshoe Plains in the Obsidian Fieldlands and this area at all times, but only when the weather is clear, cloudy, or with strong sunlight. They are the easiest to catch because they can easily be found and caught.
Suppose you decide to battle it before catching it. In that case, it is important to note that Ponyta is a Fire-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).
If you decide to distract it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Ponyta’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the player will not be able to retrieve the Pokemon after giving it to Brice. So, ensure only to provide him with the Pokemon you are willing to give up.
Once the player has a Fire-type Pokemon that you are willing to give up, head back to Brice, still in the
Icepeak Camp northwest of Avalugg’s Legacy, talk to him, and on the prompt, give him the Fire-type Pokemon that you caught for him or the one you are willing to give up. Brice will then tell the player that he is already feeling much warmer thanks to the Pokemon you gave him, so now he can focus on his work. However, Brice will feel warm and comfortable, start to get sleepy, and then try to keep himself awake. Finally, Brice will reward the player with three Full Restores and one Exp. Candy L, for your efforts!
Now that you have completed the ‘In Search of a Fiery Pokemon’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ’em all!
