Fibrous pulp is a weird resource in Subnautica 2, since it’s basically everywhere—you never have to go far to find some. But since there are so many objects that can give you fibrous pulp, it’s hard to keep track, especially because a lot of it blends in with the scenery.
Nevertheless, it’s required to make basic oily salads (delicious), and you can use it to fabricate fiber and fiber mesh, an ingredient for Basic Fins and the Rebreather. So here’s how you get it without much effort.

You can harvest fibrous pulp by chopping various types of plants using a Survival Multitool, including feather kelp, whip gorgon, and macaron sponge. At the start of the game, I recommend cutting the whip gorgon beneath the Lifepod, which looks like thick red tufts of tentacle grass, though it blends in with almost identical yet unharvestable seagrass.
Another good location is inside a cave on the sea floor, just 100 meters northwest of the Lifepod, where you’ll find tons of feather kelp growing from the rocks that you can chop away at. In fact, you’ll find feather kelp in most caves.
While it’s not hard to harvest heaps of fibrous pulp in one trip, you’ll also go through it incredibly fast and will have to head back for more. Remember that you can carry a Portable Locker with you when mining or collecting materials—there’s actually one in the cave directly under the Lifepod. You can also increase your inventory size by interacting with Biobeds.
