During today’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast, we revealed substantial new gameplay footage for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and confirmed that the game will launch for PlayStation 5 on April 8, 2027.
The anticipated action RPG will be the final entry in the acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake Series, delivering the epic finale to the story that began in Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
New gameplay details
Set in a vast open world realized on an unprecedented scale, Final Fantasy VII Revelation gives players new opportunities to explore the planet via the iconic Highwind airship.
Exploration extends beyond the Highwind, as players can once again rely on their trusty chocobo companion Piko, who this time serves as both a mount and combat ally. Piko will grow stronger alongside the party, gaining new capabilities that assist during both traversal and battle.
Combat sees significant expansion through the introduction of the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, or the FITS System for short. FITS allows for customization of play styles with new uniforms imbued with unique move sets. There are four specialized FITS: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. These FITS dramatically alter party members’ abilities and combat functions, creating new tactical possibilities. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will introduce a new dynamic character-switching feature that allows players to instantly swap between party members while exploring the world. Traversal has also been upgraded through the addition of a grappling gun that will allow players to quickly scale rooftops and navigate the city with style.
Players will also be able to choose which party member takes on certain quests. The choice impacts how specific story events and gameplay scenarios can unfold, creating unique narrative experiences shaped by each decision.
For card game lovers, fan-favorite minigame Queen’s Blood makes a return in Final Fantasy VII Revelation — this time with a major new storyline centered on Red XIII. Players will face powerful new opponents and unique gameplay challenges that expand upon the strategic card game’s mechanics. The new Queen’s Blood campaign introduces opponents capable of dramatically altering the flow of matches, creating fresh challenges for even experienced players.
Pre-order bonuses and revealing the Premium Editions
Pre-orders are live on PlayStation Store today. A special pre-order bonus is available for all editions of Final Fantasy VII Revelation: fans who pre-order the game will receive the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia.
There’s also a Final Fantasy VII Revelation Premium Edition, which includes the main game, Story Expansion Pass, and Early Access, which will allow for access to the game 24 hours before its release. The Premium Edition will also include an in-game accessory (Reclaimant Choker), as well as a set of consumable items to support the early stages of the journey. As its title suggests, the Story Expansion Pass will grant access to two story-centered DLC, with more exciting details on these to come at a later point!
The Final Fantasy VII Revelation Premium Plus Edition includes all Premium Edition content, but adds a digital art book, digital mini soundtrack, Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, an in-game armor (Nymphwing Bracelet) and an in-game accessory (Risk Taker’s Choker). With expansive overworld travel, a deeper combat system, stunning new regions to explore, and personalized character-focused storytelling, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to deliver the most ambitious and feature-rich entry in the remake trilogy when it launches!
