It’s almost time for another Dawntrail-era update, so that means the Final Fantasy 14 Moogle Treasure Trove event is back with a little something to do until patch 7.5 drops on April 28. This time, we’re on the “Hunt for Aphorism” and have new ways to obtain old rewards through alternative (often easier) methods.
I’ll cover the basics of getting started with the Moogle Treasure Trove event below, along with how the Mogpendium works and all of the Aphorism Tomestone rewards. If you’re just looking for suggestions on the best ways to farm Moogle tomes or want advice on what to exchange them for, then I’ve got you covered there too.
How does the Moogle Treasure Trove Event work?
The Moogle Treasure Trove event itself is pretty straightforward: You’ll complete an assortment of challenges ranging from raids to deep dungeons to fishing excursions, and receive a few Irregular Tomestones of Aphorism for your troubles. You can then exchange tomestones for rewards (like mounts from old extreme trials or Triple Triad cards).
How to start the Moogle Treasure Trove event
If this is your first time doing the Moogle Treasure Trove event, the whole process looks something like this:
Speak with the Itinerant Moogle to receive the Mogpendium (lists objectives)Queue for challenges in the Duty Finder or join tome farms in Party FinderUpon completing an objective, tomes drop directly into your inventory or are claimed from the MogpendiumExchange Aphorism Tomestones for rewards by speaking to the Itinerant Moogle again
A few other basics to keep in mind for the Moogle Treasure Trove:
You cannot receive irregular tomes when using squadrons, supports, or trustsYou cannot receive irregular tomes from unsynced dutiesYou can receive irregular tomes with atypical party compositions and level sync
Where do you exchange Moogle Treasure Trove tomes?
You can exchange Moogle Treasure Trove Aphorism tomes by speaking with the Itinerant Moogle in any of the three starting city-states (Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, or Ul’dah). You may hear the Moogle’s cute, squeaky hovering noises before you spot it, but here are the specific coordinates in each city:
Itinerant Moogle locations
(X:9.4, Y:11.6) Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks(X:12.4, Y:12.1) New Gridana (X:9.6, Y:9.1) Ul’dah, Steps of Nald
The Moogle Treasure Trove Mogpendium
You’ve got four different ways to grind Irregular Tomes of Aphorism before the Moogle Treasure Trove ends, and the Mogpendium is your handy in-game reference for types of tasks that earn you more tokens. Some Mogpendium objectives are one-time-only challenges, while others you can farm to your heart’s content.
Types of Mogpendium Challenges
Standard Objectives – Duties available for unlimited Aphorism farmingWeekly Objectives – A single objective that’s completable once per weekMinimog Challenges – Sets of two challenges; complete one per weekUltimog Challenges – Special challenge only available once per event cycle
Accessing the Mogpendium
Standard Objectives deliver tomes directly to your inventoryWeekly, Minimog, and Ultimog tomes must be claimed from the MogpendiumYou can place a shortcut for the Mogpendium on your hotbar Character >> Actions & Traits >> Main Commands >> Collection >> Mogpendium

Best ways to farm Irregular Tomestones of Aphorism
The Hunt for Aphorism – Standard Objectives
Complete GATEs
Even if you don’t need the MGP, you’ll get the full credit (10 Aphorism Tomes) for completing a GATE with a perfect score. Most aren’t that difficult and spawn every 20 minutes (so at 00:00, 00:20, and 00:40). It’s a more casual grind without the fuss of a party.
Rival Wings (PvP)
Rival Wings is my personal favorite way to farm Moogle Treasure Trove currency. Final Fantasy 14’s MOBA-like PVP mode is usually dead between events, but it pops off during the Treasure Trove. It’s 3-5 tomes per run, the matches are pretty fun, and it’s not too long.
Synced Blue Mage
Some Treasure Trove events have a Blue Mage meta that reigns over all else, but it’s largely dependent on the duties available. If you can get a good group of experienced Blue Mages to run dungeons or trials synced, you’ll probably farm tomes faster than any other method.
Moogle Treasure Trove Duties

Week 1: Complete Neverreap (Heavensward dungeon).
Minimog Challenges (10 tomes)
Week 1: Complete (5) FATEs in Kholusia OR Play (1) match of Doman Mahjong against a player.

What should you spend Tomestones of Aphorism on?
If the name didn’t clue you in, the Moogle Treasure Trove is an easy way to score some of Final Fantasy 14’s most desirable mounts, minions, and glamour. The event typically includes a new reward that’s exclusive to the Treasure Trove grind, but sometimes those rewards return in future iterations of the event.
Really old trial rewards aren’t worth spending your Tomestones of Aphorism on, so I would buy exclusive items like the Miner’s Earring and Fat Cat Parasol first.
First, buy the limited-time event items for 150 tomes
Miner’s Earring (100)
The Hunt for Aphorism’s event exclusive reward is the Miner’s Earring—a tiny, dangly pickaxe that tells the world how much you like hitting rocks.
Fat Cat Parasol (50)
You can also get the Fat Cat Parasol, a returning reward from the special anniversary edition of the Moogle Treasure Trove, the Hunt for Tenfold Pageantry.
Still have tomes to spare? Spend another 140 on these
Once you’ve got the earring and parasol, fate-exclusive mounts like the Ixion Clarion and Ironfrog Ambler aren’t bad choices if you don’t feel like watching old fate timers and trying to catch them when they spawn.
Ixion Clarion (50)
Ironfrog Ambler (30)
Direwolf Whistle (30)
Bomb Palanquin Horn (30)
The Bomb Palanquin Horn and Direwolf Whistle are old Allied Society rewards, so they’re another easy shortcut if you don’t feel up to doing so many daily chores.
Have everything? Irregular Tomestones are still worth farming!
The event is still useful for people like me who have been playing Final Fantasy 14 for too damn long. I use it to grind MGP Platinum Cards, which are worth 50,000 MGP a pop, and it’s how I get just about all of my MGP for buying those pricy mounts from the Gold Saucer.
I’m constantly on the achievement hunt grind too, so I buy things like the Seemingly Special Timeworn Map, Ostensibly Special Timeworn Map, etc. They guarantee a portal to their specified treasure dungeon, and it’s a great way to grind out some of the more annoying map achievements.
