Currently, we find ourselves at a pivotal point in the search for budget-friendly gaming laptops with the best deals. Given the continued dominance of the RTX 40-series laptops—and with new refreshed models appearing early this year with new Intel and AMD CPUs—it’s difficult to recommend any RTX 30-series machine unless a remarkable discount accompanies it. Why settle for an RTX 3060 when you can secure an RTX 4050 laptop, offering superior performance at a comparable price point? And let’s not even begin discussing the mobile RTX 4060; it’s proving its mettle against the RTX 3070 and even its Ti variant, all without wreaking havoc on your finances.

As for AMD systems, it’s true that deals don’t seem to appear as frequently as we’d prefer, indeed Radeon GPUs appear in laptops infrequently, too. Nevertheless, if we encounter any noteworthy ones, we’ll be sure to share them here. Below, we’ve curated a selection of the best budget-friendly gaming laptop deals we’ve spotted online. Remember that this list isn’t exhaustive, but these are the gaming laptop deals we believe are worth your money.

And check back regularly because the best gaming laptops tend to fly off the shelves when they go on sale. And if you’ve actually decided you’re more into getting yourself a desktop bargain, we’ve compiled a list of the best cheap gaming PC deals, too. Happy shopping!

Steam Deck (original) | 64GB SSD | $349 at Steam
Okay, it’s not a laptop, and the Steam Deck may have had an OLED refresh but the original version is still pretty much the archetype of what a mobile PC gaming device should be. It’s just as powerful as the most recent model so all those Steam Deck compatible games should run well, and while the 64GB storage is rather small, SSD upgrades like the Sabrent 2230 512GB are at a great price for a straightforward upgrade. It’s the OG PC gaming handheld, and it demands respect.View Deal

Asus ROG Ally | AMD Z1 Extreme | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | 7-inch 1080p | 120Hz | $699.99 $659.99 at Walmart (save $40)
The most powerful version of once of the best PC gaming handhelds is back at a discounted price. The Asus Ally surprised us at launch with its relatively low MSRP (for a premium Asus product), and now it’s even cheaper. Has the time come for you to get in on some handheld gaming action?View Deal

Gigabyte G5 | Core i7 12650H | RTX 4060 | 16GB DDR5-4800 | 512GB SSD | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144Hz | $1,099.99 $799.99 at Best Buy (save $300)
This is a lot of laptop for not very much money. To start with, you’re getting a 10-core, 16-thread CPU that will easily cope with pretty much any game you throw at it. There’s an RTX 4060 Mobile graphics chip too, that supports DLSS upscaling and frame generation. The main caveats here are that storage is a bit disappointing, so you’ll probably want to upgrade it at some point with a large SSD. For portable gaming and school work, though, this Gigabyte G5 laptop will keep you and your wallet happy.

Lenovo Legion Slim 5 | RTX 4060 | AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS | 16GB DDR5 | 512GB SSD | 16-inch | 1200p | 144Hz |  $829.95 at Amazon
As you might expect the Slim is a little thinner than it’s full-fat Legion 5 sibling, and that does make it a more desirable little laptop. It’s also rocking a slightly larger screen, though is just sporting a 1200p resolution. For the 100W RTX 4060, however, that’s a great native res to be targeting and will ensure that you get a healthy level of gaming performance out of this machine. It’s only a six-core, 12-thread CPU compared with the 8|16 config you can get with the slightly cheaper, chunkier Legion 5, but it will Boost to higher clock speeds which will be more help in games.

Lenovo Legion 5 | RTX 4060 | AMD Ryzen 7 7735H | 16GB DDR5 | 512GB SSD | 15-inch | 2160 x 1350 | 165Hz | $999.99 $869.99 at Walmart (save $130)
We’ve become big fans of Lenovo laptops here at PC Gamer this generation, and this particular budget machine is ticking a lot of boxes. For an RTX 4060 laptop it has to be under $1,000, and you also get a better than average screen, though I’m a little confused over Walmart’s listing of it as 2160 x 1350 when Lenovo itself claims a 1440p panel. That 512GB SSD, however, is disappointing, even in a budget laptop, but is a cheap and easy issue to fix if it becomes annoying down the line.

Price check: Newegg $969.99View Deal

Gigabyte G6 KF | Core i7 13620H | RTX 4060 | 16GB DDR5-4800 | 512GB SSD | 16-inch | 1200p | 165Hz | $1,099.99 $994.16 at Amazon (save $105.83)
On paper, this is very similar to the G5 model: a 10 core, 16 thread CPU, an RTX 4060 graphics chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. So what are you getting for the extra $150? Well that Intel processor has a 0.2GHz higher boost clock but the biggest difference is the laptop’s screen. It might seem to be only slightly bigger but it has a 16:10 ratio, so offers more vertical height for productivity tasks and it has a 165Hz refresh rate, for smoother looking gameplay.

Acer Predator 14 | RTX 4070 | Core i7 13700H | 14-inch | 250Hz | 1600p | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | $1,999.99 $1,299.99 at Newegg (save $700)
It’s not the prettiest gaming laptop you’ll ever see but underneath the cheap-looking exterior is a pile of really nice hardware. That Intel CPU has 14 cores, 20 threads, and the GPU is a 140W RTX 4070. Backing them up are 16GB of DDR5 RAM and, unusually for this price, a full 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Even the 2560 x 1600 screen is good, with a 250Hz refresh rate and mini-LED backlighting. There’s very little to dislike here and it’ll be down to whether the lightweight nature or 14-inch panel just aren’t right for you.

MSI Pulse| RTX 4070 | Core i7 13620H | 17-inch | 144Hz | 1080p | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | $1,399.99 $1,299.99 at Best Buy (save $100)
A lot to like here, especially as you’re getting that RTX 4070 in combination with a great Core i7. Shame that big screen is only 1080p, but at least its a 144Hz IPS unit, and that 1TB SSD is a welcome sight. A lot of laptops at this price range can come with significant compromises, but here, unless you’re looking for a higher resolution display, everything else is pretty much on point. It’s a big chunk of laptop, with a big chunk of power to match.

MSI Katana 17 | RTX 4070 | Intel Core i7 13620H | 17.3-inch | 144Hz | 1080p | 32GB DDR5-4000 | 1TB SSD | $1,399 $1,199 at Newegg (save $200)
The bigger 17-inch sibling to the Katana 15, you get a larger screen plus an upgrade to 32GB of RAM for exactly the same price, with a cracking RTX 4070/i7 combo just like its little brother. Not bad. OK, not everyone wants a 17-inch lump. But if you do prefer a bigger portable rig, this is quite the deal.

Asus TUF A17 | Nvidia RTX 4070 | AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS | 17.3-inch | 144Hz | 1080p | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | $1,799.99 $1,349.99 at Newegg (save $450)
If you’re after a large-screen laptop for school with a little Triple-A gaming on the side, the TUF A17 will certainly deliver. It’s only a 1080p panel, which is a bit of a shame, but its RTX 4070 will run pretty much everything at that resolution with the settings cranked up. It also has an 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen CPU that sports the 780M integrated graphics. That’s the same as in all the latest handhelds so it can give decent gaming performance on the go and should offer more gaming battery life than running on the RTX 4070 when away from a plug socket.View Deal

MSI Pulse 15 | RTX 4070 | Intel Core i9 13900H | 32GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | 1440p | 165Hz | $1,699 $1,359.13 at Amazon (save $339.87)
It’s not a huge saving but this laptop offers a higher-spec CPU, bigger screen, and more RAM than most you’ll find cheaper with an RTX 4070. If you’re after a laptop that can deliver for work, creative pursuits, and gaming, this will be a better fit for it.

The world’s thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop they say. It’s certainly far cheaper than Razer’s 14-inch Blade, which comes in $600 higher with the same GPU. A very slick little machine for portable gaming action, and from a very recognisable brand.View Deal

Acer Predator Helios 16 | GeForce RTX 4070 | Core i7 13700HX | 16-inch | 1600p | 240Hz IPS | 16GB DDR5-5600 | 1TB SSD | $1,899.99 $1,399.99 at B&H Photo (save $400)
We’re big fans of the latest Acer Predator laptop (read our review of the RTX 4080 version) and this RTX 4070 machine has got a lot going for it too. The Core i7 13700HX CPU is ostensibly an eight-core chip with E-core benefits. That means you get 16 full power processing threads, and a further eight cores to take it up to a total of 24 threads. For a $1,500 laptop that’s pretty tasty. It’s also sporting some speedy DDR5 memory, a full 1TB SSD and a 500nit IPS display with a 2560 x 1600 native resolution. Sadly, it’s not the Mini-LED version in the top Helios 16 models, but it’s still a bright, colorful screen.

Acer Nitro 16 | RTX 4070 | AMD Ryzen 7 7940HS | 16-inch | 165Hz | 1600p | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | $1,799.99 $1,429.99 at Newegg (save $370)
This isn’t the cheapest of RTX 4070 deals around at the moment but there’s plenty to like here. The Ryzen CPU has a full 8 cores, 16 threads, and that GPU is a high power version, with a 140W limit. The screen is fast and boasts a nice 16:10 ratio. Why choose this instead of the cheaper Predator Helios? That Ryzen uses way less power than the i7 13700HX under full load, so the fans will be a lot quieter.

It can be difficult to find RTX 4080 laptops for a good price, but HP’s Omen line occasionally comes in at such a good deal it’s worthy of note. Most laptops of this spec end up over the $2,000 mark, so especially given you get that excellent GPU, a speedy i7 and a 1TB SSD in a relatively discrete chassis, this really delivers for the money. 240Hz 1440p screen in a 17.3-inch format too, so you’ll be able to see those lovely visuals writ large.

This is last year’s model with the bigger chin and RTX 30 graphics. But the latest Razer 14 with an RTX 4060, which is comfortably slower than the RTX 3080 Ti in this model, goes for $2,399. So, if you’re looking for Razer’s smallest gaming laptop at a good price, this deal is definitely worth considering.View Deal

Acer Predator Helios 16 | GeForce RTX 4080 | Core i7 13900HX | 16-inch | 1600p | 240Hz IPS | 16GB DDR5-5600 | 1TB SSD | $2,299.99 $1,859.99 at Best Buy (save $450)
We rather like this Acer Predator laptop (read our review) and this RTX 4080 machine has got a lot going for it. The Core i7 13900HX CPU has eight P-cores and 16 E-cores, for a full 32 threads. That’s way more than you’ll ever need for gaming but great for content creation. It does get very toasty under full load though. There’s only 16GB DDR5 memory but at least there’s a 1TB SSD and a 500nit 2560 x 1600 IPS display with a 240Hz refresh rate. All in all, pretty darn good for the money.

This is a great discount on the best RTX 4080 laptop I’ve tested. It’s a fantastic notebook, offering performance that can often match and sometimes beat an RTX 4090-based system (see our review). There’s a high-performance CPU to back it up, a decent, bright 1600p screen, and a fair amount of storage. All with a discount.

It can be a little tougher to recommend a last-gen gaming laptop at this level, because the RTX 4060 machines are pretty good value right now. But if you really can’t stretch to that, this affordable RTX 3060 machine will deliver a decent level of 1080p gaming performance with a pretty healthy back up specs list to boot.

For a cheap gaming laptop, there’s some decent hardware under the hood. That i5 12500H has four P-cores, eight E-cores, and 16 threads in total which is fine for entry-level gaming. The RTX 4050’s power limit is a bit of a mystery, though, and if it’s low, then you’re really going to be limited to low quality settings. Everything else is okay for the money: Not brilliant, but not bad either.View Deal

We’re big fans of this little budget gaming laptop, and our Jacob loved its great gaming performance (check out our review). With over £300 off the original price and some genuine 1080p gaming chops on offer, we reckon this makes quite a tidy deal. It’s a little more expensive than the above HP Victus but it’s definitely better for gaming.View Deal

MSI Katana 15 | Intel Core i9 13900H | AMD RTX 4070 | 17.3-inch | 1080p | 144Hz | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | £1,699.99 £1,299.98 at Amazon (save £400.01)
Phew, those are some pretty impressive specs at a similarly impressive discount, from a trusted brand no less. Yes, it’s only got a 1080p screen, and yes, 32GB of RAM instead of the included 16GB would be nice, but for just under £1,200 you get a super-fast Core i9, an RTX 4070 and a 1TB SSD. That’s a bit of a magic combo if you ask me, and at a bit of a magic price too.View Deal

This laptop has a great CPU and GPU combination, and is more than good enough to run the latest games at 1080p high settings. The amount of storage is disappointing though and you’d probably want to upgrade that sooner rather than later. It’s not the biggest of savings but given there’s an RTX 4070 on offer here, it’s a good deal nonetheless.View Deal

Asus ROG Strix G16 | Intel Core i7 13650H | Nvidia RTX 4080 | 16-inch | 1200p | 165Hz | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | £1,654.47 at Amazon
The G16 is a more value-focused gaming laptop from the ROG stable, and as such doesn’t have the sparkly Nebula display of something like the Zephyrus M16. But the Strix G16 still has an impressively punchy 1920 x 1200 panel, and the RTX 4080 at its heart will power any game at peak settings on that display beautifully.View Deal

MSI Vector GP68HX | Core i9-13950HX | GeForce RTX 4080 | 16-inch | 1200p | 144Hz | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB SSD | £2,099.99 £1,999.99 at Scan (save £100)
When it comes to the hardware running under the bonnet, this 16-inch MSI Vector certainly has the goods, what with that Intel Core i9 processor and an RTX 4080 making a very tempting package indeed. Bit of a shame about the 1200p display and 16GB of RAM, but at least the screens a good ‘un with a 144Hz refresh rate and nice and bright panel. There’s a huge amount of performance here in quite a slim and svelte package, making this machine a lot of power for under the magic £2,000 marker.View Deal
