SpongeBob’s Abilities

In SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, the player can make our beloved porous character perform many abilities. SpongeBob’s abilities develop as the player progresses through the game. The following are the basic abilities that SpongeBob can perform in the game:

Spin

This is SpongeBob’s primary attacking ability in the game. This attack comes from the Battle for Bikini Bottom, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game, and the Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated. In these games, SpongeBob swings a Bubble Wand around him and hits any foes or objects.

If the player changes SpongeBob’s costume, the Spin attack’s look will alter. Examples include equipping Karate Gloves for KarateBob and RoboBob SteelPants, as well as a shield for Knight.

Ground Pound

This move is SpongeBob’s secondary attacking ability. When performed, SpongeBob will slam down onto enemies, buttons, or tikis from mid-air. While this move is similar to SpongeBob’s Bubble Bounce, move from the Battle for Bikini Bottom and the Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated video games, SpongeBob’s Ground Pound attack appears to be more similar to the moves in the Revenge of the Flying Dutchman and Plankton’s Robotic Revenge video games.

Dodge

In the game, the player can perform this ability to make SpongeBob execute a cartwheel and avoid enemies. This was inspired by Patrick’s move in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game.

Glide

After that, the player can use this ability to go to distant locations. When performing this move, SpongeBob can use the pizza box in the air to glide around the map. This ability is similar to Sandy’s Lasso Glide move from the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom. However, as opposed to Sandy, SpongeBob continues to glide even if the player releases and then pushes the glide button. This is as lengthy as the gauge, for it does not run out.

Bubble Surf

With this ability, SpongeBob can jump on a bubble surfboard and glide through the air to travel far distances. After doing so, the player can extend the time SpongeBob can glide by running into more surfboards. Before that, the player can unlock this after completing Wild West Jellyfish Fields.

Bubble Button

Using this ability, SpongeBob may shoot bubbles to press buttons, raise certain platforms, tear down faraway tikis, or trap and stun small foes. This ability replaced the Bubble Bowl move from the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Fishhook Swing

The Fishhook Swing ability allows SpongeBob to cling to ropes on a hook nearby. This ability is inspired by Sandy’s swing from the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom. However, exactly like in the Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated video game, the player needs to hold down the button while using this ability. This ability is one of the game’s most defining features.

Karate Kick

When the player uses this ability, SpongeBob will lock on a target and then kick it. The player can use this ability to kick floating targets, attack enemies to destroy barriers and cross big gaps. Before that, the player can unlock this ability in Karate Downtown Bikini Bottom.

Sneaking

With this ability, SpongeBob can hide in bushes to avoid the Spooky Jellies. Initially, the player can first see this ability in Halloween Rock Bottom.

Boo Scare

Aside from hiding from them, the player can use this ability to terrify the Spooky Jellies, allowing SpongeBob to eliminate them. The player, however, can only do this ability if the icon flashes.

Grand Slam

This ability is a more powerful form of the Ground Pound ability. The player can use this ability to press the larger button to draw the Worm Jelly out and break specific cages. In addition, the player can utilize this ability to eliminate foes or destroy tikis within a certain radius. The player can unlock this ability in Prehistoric Kelp Forest.

Reef Blower

With this ability, the player can make SpongeBob consume cosmic jellies to fill the gauge. After that, the player can make SpongeBob shoot a deadly purple goo to defeat enemies. The player can unlock this ability in Jelly Glove World.
