How to tame the Iron Eagle in Crimson Desert

Taming the Iron Eagle in Crimson Desert isn’t quite as tricky as the Phoenix, but it’s definitely costlier. This mechanical bird only eats rare metals, after all, such as Mercury or Platinum, so you’ll have to source either in order to earn its trust. You’ll also have to complete a little puzzle to actually summon said bird.

Since Platinum is the easiest way to get its trust, I’ll run through how to get a bar of the stuff to use, plus where to find the puzzle that summons the Iron Eagle so you can tame it.

How to tame the Iron Eagle in Crimson Desert

You can summon the Iron Eagle at the Hawkstone Ruins at around 5am each day (Image credit: Pearl Abyss)

You can find the Iron Eagle at the Hawkstone Ruins just north of the “A” in Deleysia, at the far east of Crimson Desert’s continent. You will, however, need a couple of things to tame this bird, namely:

Either 1x Platinum or 20x MercuryTo unlock the Sotdae of Bond item for taming birds

I recommend using Platinum instead of Mercury, since this will give you +100 Trust with the Iron Eagle straight away, though to get it, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops first.

You can find the Platinum recipe at the top of the Great Gate of UrdavahPearl AbyssLook for it on a low bookshelf in the room with the big tanks of green liquidPearl Abyss

You can find the recipe for Platinum at the very top of the Great Gate of Urdavah near Tommaso in the Crimson Desert itself. Take the lift up to the top, then go left up the stairs and into the room with the containers filled with green liquid just in the entrance. To your right, you’ll find a bookcase, and if you crouch, the recipe for Platinum, on a low shelf. It requires:

1x Gold Bar4x Brimstone3x Mercury2x Holy Water

While you can get the Gold Bar in a few different ways and buy the Holy Water at churches, such as the ones in Hernand and Senia, Brimstone and Mercury are harder to come by. You can mine both, which requires some prep, but the cheap and nasty way is to head to Scholastone and max out your relationship with any of the troll scholars there. Doing so (which only costs you 10x basic hide materials) sees them potentially give you two Rubber, Mercury, or Brimstone.

One easy way to get Mercury and Brimstone is to reach 100 trust with troll scholars in Scholastone (Image credit: Pearl Abyss)

Once you have enough, head to a Witch Vendor, select Craft Abyss Gear, and then cycle across to craft a Platinum bar the same way you would for a gold one. Now all that’s done, you can tame the Iron Eagle.

If you read the inscription on the pillar in the centre of the Hawkstone Ruins, it says:

“Step beyond the edge of darkness and grab the handle of dawn to awaken the slumbering steel. Offer the silver shards flowing through the Sotdae, and claim the Wings of Steel”

What this means in practice is that you need to wait until 5am and then interact with the dial just left of the inscription. This will summon the Iron Eagle. Place down the Sotdae of Bond by selecting it in your inventory, then interact to add the Platinum as feed.

Interact with the hole next to the inscription at around 5am to summon the Iron EaglePearl AbyssPlace the Sotdae of Bond and put the Platinum insidePearl AbyssTake in the Iron Eagle after it lands and consumes the PlatinumPearl Abyss

When the bird approaches, it’ll land, consume the Platinum, and you’ll immediately get 100 Trust, letting you approach and “Take in” the Iron Eagle to unlock it as a pet.
