Black Ops 6 Zombies: How to Research Augments

Learn how to research Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies and unlock item enhancements and buffs to survive in the game.

Zombies mode in CoD is known for getting intense as you climb to higher ranks, and Black Ops 6 Zombies is no different. To survive in the game, you need all the help you can get, including upgrades to your abilities, weapons, and unique buffs that speed up health regeneration or increase your health.

Fortunately, Black Ops 6 has brought a new mechanic called Augments. These unique modifiers allow you to unlock additional effects for all Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades in the game. However, to unlock and equip Augments in Black Ops 6, you must first research them. Here’s how to research Augments in Black Ops 6:

Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, Augments provide enhancements to the classic Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades that players can equip to help fight against the zombie hordes. At the game’s launch, there are a total of 108 Augments you can research (unlock):

8 Perk-A-Colas: Each with 6 Augments, for a total of 48.

5 Ammo Mods: Each with 6 Augments, for a total of 30.

5 Field Upgrades: Each with 6 Augments, for a total of 30.

Each item has a total of 6 Augments to unlock, divided into 3 Major Augments and 3 Minor Augments. Of course, Major Augments provide stronger enhancements and effects for your selected items in the game.

How to Research Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies

The Augments menu in Black Ops 6 Zombies becomes accessible once you reach Level 11. After meeting this requirement, go to the Weapons menu and select Augments > Research Augments. Here, you’ll find all Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades Augments available for research and unlocking.

To start to research Augments, select your preferred item under Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods, or Field Upgrades. Some items require you to unlock some Augments before you can start its research, so begin with those that have no requirements.

Once you activate an Augments Research, head into Black Ops 6 and start grinding through rounds, getting more kills, and completing S.A.M. Trials, as Augments progress is XP-based. You can speed up the process by using a Double XP token.

Since the Augments progress bar isn’t available in-game, go to the Research Augments menu and select your active research to view the progress bar in the bottom-right corner.

Note: You can only research one Augments task at a time, no matter the category. For example, if you choose to research a Stamin-Up Augments, you won’t be able to start another until it’s finished.

How to Equip Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombie

After completing the Augments Research tasks, you can equip the Augment by following these steps:

Go to the Weapons menu in the game.

Select Augments.

Choose Equip Augments and select the items you’ve unlocked Augments for.

Select the Major and Minor Augment you want to apply.

Note: You can only apply one Major and one Minor Augment at a time for each item—one of the 3 Minor Augments and one of the 3 Major Augments.

With these enhancements unlocked and equipped, you’ll gain an edge to survive longer on the battlefield in Black Ops 6 Zombies, especially in higher rounds. It’s also best to focus on researching Augments for the Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades you use most. This will speed up the research process and be more useful when equipped.
