After over 6 months of waiting, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the developer of Stardew Valley, has finally announced the release date for the console and mobile ports of the 1.6 update. It first launched for PC players on March 19 with new features. This includes a new farm type and the quirky ability to drink mayonnaise. However, due to an unavoidable technical issue, as previously stated by the developer, it’s taken longer to roll out on consoles and mobile.

Now that the wait is almost over with a release date in sight, fans of the game are more excited than ever. So, let’s break down everything you need to know about the Stardew Valley update.

Stardew Valley Update 1.6 Console and Mobile: Release Date and Changes

— ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) September 22, 2024

According to a recent tweet from ConcernedApe, the highly anticipated Stardew Valley 1.6 update will be released by November 4, 2024, for the popular open-ended farming RPG.

While this news brings mixed feelings for players who’ve been waiting over six months for the ports, many are relieved to finally have a release date. There’s also plenty of excitement about the expected improvements in the game.

Since the 1.6 update was released for PC in March, the game has received several patches to fix bugs and add improvements and new content. This is actually why the update launched for PC players first.

In a press release made on the same day he announced the port release date, the developer stated,

“The console and mobile ports will release at version 1.6.9, which will also come to PC around that time.”

It seems the wait has been well worth it for console and mobile players, as we’ll be getting all-new content and improvements with this huge update. That said, we’ve also confirmed that the Stardew Valley update will be available not just for Xbox and PlayStation but also for Nintendo Switch.

Stardew Valley 1.6 Changes

The 1.6 update comes with a plethora of new content and features, improvements, gameplay changes, and bug fixes, which is why this is a huge update for Stardew Valley. Apart from the new Meadowlands Farm, the update also added new festivals and events, including the Desert Festival, two mini-fishing festivals (Trout Derby, and SquidFest), and a summer environmental event.

With this Stardew Valley update, you’ll get to enjoy new items like the Big Chest as well as Skill Books, 280 new furniture items, 25 new hats, Mystic Seeds, and more. But we can also expect even more additions with patch 1.6.9 coming with the ports.

For those who have questions about starting a new farm, the developer mentioned that you’ll still experience almost everything new with your current save files. That said, it might be best to kick off a new farm to enjoy all the new additions in the game.

What More?

With this Stardew Valley update finally coming out on all platforms, it looks like ConcernedApe will resume work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, which he seems to have put on hold for this update. There’s no definite information about the new game at the time of writing. But rest assured, we’ll keep you updated with any new information regarding the game and the Stardew Valley update 1.6.
