Niantic is introducing a brand new Pokemon GO adventure, Wild Area, for 2024. This piece covers all the details that have been released about the event.
The Pokemon Go Wild Area event is coming up and many Pokémon GO fans have been eagerly waiting for it. Other than GO Tour and GO Fest, which took place in February and July, respectively, there have been no significant events for the Pokemon fanbase. These events normally unite trainers worldwide, offering them fresh experiences in Pokémon GO.
Fortunately, on August 29, 2024, Pokémon GO announced a new event coming this year: GO Wild Area. While details are still limited, here’s what we know so far about the Pokemon Go Wild Area event:
Pokemon Go Wild Area Event: Everything You Should Know
Pokémon GO trainers are excited about the newly announced Pokemon Go Wild Area event, marking the first of its kind and a major annual event alongside GO Fest and GO Tour. It’s scheduled to take place later this year, both in-person and as a global event, which is, of course, virtual. Unlike other GO yearly events, the in-person will be held in one location.
Here are the confirmed details we have about the event so far:

The in-person version of the Pokemon Go Wild Area event will take place from Saturday, November 16, to Sunday, November 17, 2024 in Fukuoka, Japan. This will be the only physical version of the event, meaning the special experiences planned for the in-person event will be available to those who can attend in Fukuoka, Japan, on those days.
While Niantic has not yet disclosed ticket information or what to expect at the event, you can stay updated by following their social media channels for the latest details.
Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global
If you can’t make it to Japan for the physical event, there will be a global version that you can join from anywhere in the world virtually. The Wild Area global event will take place the weekend after the in-person event, from November 23 to 24.
Note that the event tickets are not available yet but you can stay tuned on Pokémon GO’s X (Twitter page) for updates.
Event Features
As we’ve previously stated, no details have been revealed about the experiences coming with the event later this year. However, there are various speculations:
The event may be linked to an update Pokémon made on August 18, 2024, which partially reads: “We’ve all learned a gigantic amount from exploring the world and encountering all sorts of Pokémon together over the last eight years, and yet there always seem to be new mysteries to uncover, looming just over the horizon. A new Season means big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon? We wonder what awaits on your next Pokémon GO adventure…”
Major GO events like this one often feature new Pokémon debuts. We might see the introduction of the Gigantamax Pokémon, such as Toxtricity, during this event. Premium raid passes are also likely to be part of the experience.
The event gameplay will most likely be exclusive to ticket holders, with opportunities to compete for prizes at the battleground.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated when more details come out.
