Fantasy war strategy RPG Brigandine Abyss launches on PS5 this year

In today’s State of Play, we revealed the first trailer for Brigandine Abyss, our upcoming single player fantasy strategy RPG, which launches on PS5 in 2026. The Brigandine series has had a long history with PlayStation, with the first title launching on the original PlayStation back in 1998. Now, six years after the release of Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia, the series once again brings players to a fantasy world where battles take place on a hex grid.

Before we continue, let’s take a look the teaser trailer!

Defend your territory from invasions in this fantasy strategy RPG

This installment of Brigandine tells the story of a powerful empire scheming to conquer the continent and six different protagonists who find themselves facing this great evil. The player can choose to play as the leader of one of six factions as they navigate events that will shape the history of the continent of Meltitea. Strategically command troops of monsters to overcome trial after trial—and bear witness to every twist and turn along the way!

This latest entry carries forward series staples, like fighting battles on hex-based maps using troops of knights and monsters, various RPG elements, and over 100 units with their own skills, elements, and traits. However, it will also feature some brand-new systems (details to come)! Plus, 3D graphics bring the game’s wide array of battlefields to life, providing a sense of immersion to its deep strategy gameplay.

In addition to the six stories following the six main characters, there are also optional side quests which follow each of the continent’s 24 factions. This makes for a staggering combined total of 200+ hours of playtime—enough to satisfy even the most die-hard players!

Finally, we have a message from the producer:

“Hello, everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is Masaru Saito and I’m the producer of Brigandine Abyss.

Brigandine is a series of strategy RPGs that each feature their own settings and characters, making Brigandine Abyss an easy title to pick up even for newcomers to the series.

There’s actually an interesting story as to why I was brought on for the development of Brigandine Abyss, but I’ll save that for another time. In any case, I hope that by reading this you’ll know that, in part thanks to that special connection, I’ve poured my heart into developing this game.”

Brigandine Abyss is brought to you by a new development team, and we hope you look forward to it! More details on the game and its exact release date will be announced at a later date, so please stay tuned!
